ALMUÑECAR


ARCHEOLIGICAL MUSEUM OF 'LA CUEVA DE LOS SIETE PALACIOS'

SAN MIGUEL'S CASTLE
Castillo de San Miguel is located in Almuñécar, in the province of Granada, Spain. It is bounded by the remains of the original city walls. The castle sits on a small hill, which is difficult to access. The original fortifications date of 1st century B.C. During the Moorish occupation, the castle was enlarged to include 40 towers and three gates.[1] It has a wide moat and a drawbridge. Parts of the building are topped with battlements of pyramid shape. The keep, which was on the inside, is demolished.




CASTLE OF LA HERRADURA
The castle of la Herradura was used by the army until 1839, in that year, once extinguished piracy, was given to the police, whose mission was to ensure the safety and security of coasts and borders, as well as to prevent smuggling. After delete the Carabineros Corps in 1940, it was occupied by the Civil Guard.


ENCARNACION'S CHURCH
It is the first Temple in the province of Granada in Baroque style. It was built around 1600 by Ambrosio de Vico. On the construction rises the Tower, slender and elegant, topped by a capital.
